The need to adjust the parameters of PID correctors
led to the development of the first identification methods from the Second World War onwards. Among these methods, which will not be discussed here, we should mention those which involve approximating the index response of a dynamic system by a continuous-time linear model characterized by a reduced number of parameters (static gain, one or two time constants, pure delay)
