A chemical sensor is a device that detects, identifies, or quantifies a target chemical species by converting a specific chemical interaction into a measurable signal. It comprises a recognition layer, which selectively interacts with the target species, and a transducer, which converts this interaction into a signal that can be used by a measurement system.
