6. Solid-phase synthesis
Since the early 1990s, the popularity of supported chemistry has been applied to combinatorial techniques in pharmaceutical and agrochemical research for molecular recognition, catalysis and the "construction" of new molecules. A large number of organic chemistry reactions have been successfully transposed to solid-phase synthesis. Numerous reviews trace the various uses of polymers and their applications in synthesis (cf.
[Doc. K 1 260]
). A few selected examples are given here to illustrate the use of supported chiral reagents, auxiliaries and catalysts.
