2. Materials and methods
Prior to surgery, the patient often undergoes a CT or MRI scan. This is virtually mandatory for laparoscopic surgery. Advanced computer processing of the radiological data provides indispensable information for the proper planning of the forthcoming operation. Realistic 3D visualization of the organs and lesions concerned, including precise metrics, is a vital aid to interventional planning.
2.1 Data reading and visualization
Radiological examinations, such as CT scans and MRIs, provide both DICOM and JPEG images.
