3. Interframe distance
Once the attributes to be considered for registration have been defined, we need to associate a function defining a distance between the attributes of the two images to be registered. This distance must be minimal when the two images overlap at best, i.e. when the similarity between the reference image and the deformed image is maximum. First, we'll look at the different criteria used to define a distance between geometric primitives, and then examine various dense similarity criteria.
