Functional economy and the construction sector

If the practice of functional economy confers competitive advantages on manufacturers, this is not without its preconditions. These are best defined by the extent to which the introduction of this concept represents a genuine innovation.

Construction is the leading industrial sector in France, as it is in Europe. However, from a macro-economic point of view, this sector is all the more important in that, less well known, it is an indispensable support for banking activity. On the one hand, construction projects generate substantial cash flow during the construction phase, but they also give rise to a considerable volume of borrowing. The U.S. subprime mortgage crisis is a case in point.
