Law no. 2005-102 of February 11, 2005 on equal rights and opportunities,
participation and citizenship for people with disabilities, aims to
better integrate people with disabilities into society. In application
of this law, decree no. 2006-55 defines what constitutes an accessible
building. It is a building constructed or fitted out in such a way
as to be accessible to disabled people, whatever their disability.
This means being able to move around, access premises and equipment,
use equipment, find one's way around and communicate. And this is
true whatever the disability in question: physical, sensory, mental,
cognitive or psychological.
For vertical transport, the obligation to install an elevator
is extended and specified in this specific regulation.
