2.1.1 Role of aggregates
The most common alkali-silica reaction involves aggregates containing one or more of the following mineral species in varying proportions: opal, chalcedony, cristobalite, tridymite, microcrystalline or tectonized quartz, vitreous phase... These mineral species can be found in all types of rock:
magmatic: granites, pegmatites, aplites ;
volcanic: rhyolites, basalts, trachytes ;
