4. Conclusion
This article provides information to help assess the behavior of reinforced concrete structural elements in the presence of reinforcement corrosion. It reviews the origins of the physico-chemical mechanisms responsible for the corrosion of reinforcement in reinforced concrete, gives an overview of approaches to modeling the behavior of civil engineering structural elements affected by corrosion and, finally, presents a comparative study between two modeling approaches based on a simple structural element.
