7. Expertise
From the foregoing, we can see that the notion of expertise is, in principle, a very broad one. A person (natural or legal), an insurer or a judge has recourse to expert appraisal when there is a technical question at the root of a dispute (or a potential dispute) in a wide variety of circumstances.
It can be on occasion :
damage to an old building whose owner wishes to know its origin, or to a recent building still covered by the ten-year guarantee and a "Dommages-ouvrage" policy;
water damage or fire ;
a dispute or conflict between two or more parties involved in the building process who deny responsibility for a loss;...
