1.1 Shrinkage and temperature variations
These 2 phenomena, which are often cumulative, are the source of many claims due to the dimensional variations they generate.
It is estimated that they are the cause of over 40% of all disorders affecting reinforced concrete structures, most of which are fortunately not very serious. But they nevertheless represent a major burden for insurers, the profession and, ultimately, the community.
These disorders are characterized by cracks that can lead to infiltration in the case of exposed structures (in particular, structures on flat roofs and, to a lesser extent, facades and gables).
