Pathology of retaining walls

Although it is difficult to classify disorders a priori, as they often have multiple causes, we will examine the most common pathologies below, based on their origins:

• no study ;

• design faults ;

• miscalculations ;

• drainage fault ;

• reinforcement errors ;

• defects in workmanship ;

• data modification ;

• maintenance and operating faults ;

• overall stability ;

• physico-chemical actions ;

• prefabricated walls.

We will illustrate these pathologies with examples. We'll then look at a few special cases, before discussing the most common principles of repair and/or reinforcement. Finally, we will seek to draw some lessons or recommendations from this study.
