Reinforcements of buildings shaken by an earthquake, or which may be subject to seismic hazards, are curative when they are carried out with regard to the intensity of this seismic exposure.
This intensity is given by the zoning where the building is located. It should be noted that this intensity may vary over time, depending on the evolution of seismic activity.
The repair of structures shaken by earthquakes is very often attempted; firstly for economic reasons (it's generally cheaper to repair than to demolish and rebuild), but also to preserve buildings that have a certain value (historic buildings, for example).
