According to the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change), global warming could reach 1.1 to 6.4°C by the end of the 21st century. In dense urban areas, the possible consequences are far more critical, as they are amplified by the Urban Heat Island (UHI) phenomenon. Solar radiation is one of the main sources contributing, along with anthropogenic inputs, to both global and local warming, with complex mechanisms and interactions represented in figure 9 on a neighborhood scale.
