Treatment of VOC-laden air by adsorption-electrodesorption

Among the adsorbent materials available for the removal of volatile organic compounds, activated carbon is generally used in the form of extruded grains or rods. These porous solids are packed into columns, which are usually regenerated by steam or another hot gas. . Recently, activated carbon fibers in fabric (figure 1 ) or felt form have been industrially produced. Because of their intended application, it is first necessary to define their physico-chemical and electrical characteristics in detail. Secondly, their adsorption properties with respect to VOCs are determined.
