2.1.1 Expanded clay
This lightweight aggregate is obtained by subjecting clays to a high-temperature firing process (1,200°C), transforming them into spherical, porous, low-density aggregates. The interior of this expanded clay is made up of cells, created by the formation of air microbubbles. This microstructure confers high insulating power, making it ideal for use in insulation elements, lightweight blocks and prefabricated buildings
