2. Bioclimatic design
Bioclimatic design takes into account climatic conditions (temperature, sunshine, wind, rainfall, etc.), as well as the characteristics and potential of the site and plot. The aim is to optimize the comfort of future residents or users, while controlling energy consumption, and enabling the building and its occupants to adapt to climatic variations.
In particular, the designer seeks to recover solar gain in winter, while avoiding excessive exposure to direct sunlight to avoid overheating in summer, or even mid-season. Thermal comfort in summer and mid-season is all the more important in commercial buildings, where internal heat gains are often significant. This precaution also limits the energy consumption that can be induced by air-conditioning.
