The challenge is to maximize daylighting inside buildings, both to meet occupants' needs and to reduce the need for artificial lighting. This must be accompanied by the ability to guarantee good conditions of visual comfort, which presupposes providing occupants with the tools to protect themselves against glare. This involves capturing, filtering, conducting and distributing light. This issue is described in greater detail in
