Buildings or communities must have a pressurized water network for fire-fighting, and full automation of the system is generally required.

In other words, the circuit needs to be under constant pressure, so that simply opening a lance provides the necessary pressure and flow.

The general rules governing fire systems are briefly described at the beginning of this article.

For high-rise buildings, the water reserve must be a minimum of 120 m ³ , and this reserve must be maintained while the tank is being cleaned. In practice, this means 2 tanks of 120 m ³ , 3 tanks of 60 m ³ or 4 tanks of 40 m ³ .
