The complete description of a nonlinear material behavior model requires the definition of various evolution laws, as well as the associated thresholds for defining the linearity domain . Each of these elements is expressed as a mathematical function involving a set of parameters.

In this first part, various classical behavior models are presented, introducing the link with material characteristics whose identification is discussed in the second part.
