3. Examples of thickness checks
As previously indicated, the approach followed for verification is to calculate the minimum thickness e1 of the fictitious, annealed monolithic glass for the loads that apply to the real glazing and then verify that the composition chosen a priori satisfies the comparison equation between eR and e1 and that of deformation.
Let's assume that the loads on a 0.9 × 1.5 m glazing unit, intended for a frame whose top rail is less than 6 m from the ground (c = 0.9), supported on three sides with a large free edge, are P = 1,200 Pa. They lead to a value of e1 = 6.97 mm and a value of ec = 6.97 × 0.9 = 6.27 mm.
