3. Special case of dry toilets
One of the innovations of the decree of September 7, 2009 setting out the technical requirements applicable to non-collective sanitation installations receiving a gross organic pollution load less than, or equal to, 1.2 kg/d of BOD5 is to authorize, and precisely frame, dry toilets as a perennial non-collective sanitation technique for individual dwellings.
We're not talking here about event dry toilets, which are used for large-scale events, but about facilities used sustainably at plot level.
Article 17 of this decree specifies that "dry toilets (without dilution or transport water) are authorized, on condition that they do not generate any nuisance for the neighborhood, or liquid discharge outside the plot, or pollution of surface or ground water.
