3. Continuous frames
3.1 General
Continuous composite framing is of particular interest in the absence of a bracing system, sometimes imposed by the purpose of the construction.
This is the case for industrial halls (figure 13 ), where it can be advantageous to design with mixed beams and columns when stringent requirements are imposed on the lateral displacements and deflections of the beams at ELS (serviceability limit states) and/or on the duration of fire resistance.
