2. Multi-fiber beam
In order to model slender (Euler-Bernoulli or Timoshenko kinematics) or slightly slender (Timoshenko kinematics) structural elements, and to effectively characterize the vulnerability of reinforced concrete structures, numerical tools of the "beam" type can be used. These tools are based on the Resistance of Materials (RoM), making assumptions about kinematics that enable us to use behavior laws that are generally 1D or, possibly, 1D with the effect of shear taken into account (for Timoshenko kinematic beam models).
For non-linear dynamic calculations, finite element analysis of the "beam" type offers a good compromise between calculation time and accuracy of results. It also offers a certain degree of ergonomics for the modeler, both in model...
