2. Site scissometer test
The site scissometer or, to simplify matters, the scissometer, is a device for measuring the cohesion of fine soils (soft clays, silts and silts) in situ. It is described in French standard NF EN IS0 22476-9 of 2020.
2.1 Test principle
The principle of the test is shown in figure 13 : a four-bladed steel reel is driven into the ground (without a pilot hole) via a tube train. Once the chosen test depth has been reached, the device is immobilized for a short time (between 2 and 5 minutes), after which the reel is rotated from the surface by means of rods placed inside the tube train.
