A wall's reaction to fire depends on the products or materials of which it is made.
The reaction-to-fire requirement concerns the finished wall, with the exposed face receiving the heat flow.
All finishes are tested on a typical substrate or on a standard substrate representative of the wall for which they are intended. Standards

and
NF P92-507
