9. Cold mix asphalt
The term "cold mix" covers several types of bituminous mixes, which have in common the fact that they are made of aggregates and bitumen emulsion. The main ones are cold mixes and storable cold mixes.
Interest in cold technology grew in the 1990s for reasons of energy conservation and environmental protection.
9.1 Cold mix asphalt
These are the distant descendants of the American Slurry Seal, made of 0/3 or 0/5 sand and emulsion. Imported into France in the 1960s, they were quickly abandoned due to their inadequate roughness.
