The prevention of disorders due to internal sulfate reaction is the subject of an LCPC technical guide.
. The preventive approach adopted in this guide consists in identifying the parts of structures likely to develop disorders due to internal sulfate reaction. These are essentially parts of structures defined as critical parts (i.e. concrete parts for which the heat released is only very partially evacuated to the outside, leading to a significant rise in concrete temperature) and precast concrete products that have undergone heat treatment.
