Purpose: this document provides the aviation community with guidelines for determining, in a consistent manner and with an acceptable degree of confidence, whether the software aspects of on-board systems and equipment meet airworthiness requirements.

This document, based on aviation regulations, defines breakdown categories:

• catastrophic (risk to flight and landing safety);

• dangerous (significant reduction in aircraft capacity) ;

• major (significant reduction in aircraft capacity)...
