We now turn to a more classical application of wavelet methods: the processing of an electrophysiological signal. This application is more classical in that it uses a wavelet transform based on the application of a single wavelet, rather than on a basis constructed from a family of mathematically related wavelets. Once again, the choice of a wavelet with morphological characteristics appropriate to the physiological signal under consideration is crucial to the success of the application.
