3. Endowing a robot with "ethical" behavior?
In the context of the decision-making autonomy conferred on a robot (e.g. a drone, an autonomous car, a medical monitoring robot), we pose the following technical question: is it possible to program the robot so that the decisions it calculates are ethical? Or, more precisely, that these decisions be considered ethical by a human observer, and in the light of what considerations?
A robot with decision-making capabilities can be placed in situations where, if the decision were made by a human, ethical considerations would guide that decision.
Examples: Which patients should be given priority in the event of multiple simultaneous alarms (medical surveillance)?...
