The use of wavelength multiplexing has necessitated the development of dedicated reflectometers.
Continuously tunable or wavelength-grid tunable OTDR devices now make it possible to test networks using more than 100 wavelengths with a single device.
Of course, this frequency agility requires the use of specific optical and opto-electronic components.
