1. Reminder of the main stages of production

  • Before turning to the production technologies, and to make the article easier to read, the following glossary gives the main terms that will be used:

    • shape defect: deviation in shape from the desired theoretical surface. The term "flatness" is often used as a synonym for both flat and uneven surfaces;

    • PTV: Peak To Valley: the maximum amplitude of the shape defect (maximum – minimum);

    • Rms: Root mean square ;

    • Ra: term expressing the arithmetic mean deviation ;

    • MRF: MagnetoRheological Finishing;

    • FJP: Fluid Jet Propulsion.
