Each pixel of a detection matrix shows slight differences in response and continuous level. To present quality images, it is therefore first necessary to correct this pixel non-uniformity. This is done by presenting two black bodies of different temperatures to the detector in succession. By acquiring the continuous output levels of each pixel for the two blackbody temperatures, it is then possible to correct them in terms of continuous level and gain to obtain the same output signal for all pixels for the blackbody temperatures considered ( 24 ), according to the following relationship.
