saturated absorption; absorption saturée

A spectroscopic technique for atoms in gas or jet states, providing much finer lines than those broadened by the Doppler effect, thanks to a non-linear mechanism.

concentrator; concentrator

A system that converts radiation at one wavelength into another at a longer wavelength, but concentrated over a smaller area than the illuminated surface, which is advantageous for its end use. A plate made of well-balanced phosphors (see below) can fulfil this role.

diffusion Raman; Raman scattering

The effect of inelastic scattering (with a change in wavelength) of light, due to the vibrations of atoms in molecules and solids, phonons.
