2. Coded masks

Coded masks are the ancestors of COBAI, as is the pinhole for focusing binary optics [E 4 045] . The gamma-ray and X-ray fields have proposed to counterbalance the low sensitivity of the pinhole by imaging the scene not with one, but with a multitude of pinholes. Here, the pinhole size is based on the case of a generalized Fresnel number FN≫1 (
