Nuclear Safety Research

Nuclear safety is based on a set of technical and organizational measures implemented to prevent incidents and accidents, and to limit the consequences of those that may occur despite preventive measures. These measures apply from the design stage through to construction, operation, decommissioning and dismantling.

In 2016, there were over 100 major nuclear facilities in France, including 58 nuclear reactors providing around 75% of the electricity required to meet national needs, and one nuclear reactor under construction.
