2. Power to Gas and hydrogen
Hydrogen production is 95% derived from fossil resources processed by thermochemical processes such as steam reforming. This solution is the most cost-effective of the range of techniques available, but it is also the most polluting, as large quantities of carbon dioxide (CO2) are generated. In contrast, the water electrolysis process produces ultra-pure hydrogen, but its cost price is 3 to 4 times higher than that of steam reforming. This price difference is essentially due to the cost of electricity .
