4. Thermal conductivity
Since the 1960s, two main methods have been used to model the thermal conductivity of dielectric and semiconducting solids:
the phenomenological Callaway model
based on the Boltzmann transport equation (ETB). This model is simple, but introduces parameters to adjust the strength of diffusive mechanisms to match experimental results;
a variational approach to solving the transfer equation
