1. Preamble
The structure of medium-voltage distribution networks differs from one distributor to another, but is most often radial, as shown in the schematic diagram in figure 1, which runs from left to right, from the (T)HT/MT transformer at the primary substation to the MV installations of the users; this figure also introduces the vocabulary used in the rest of the article.
