2. Analysis of LV network faults

2.1 Special features of LV faults

Low-voltage networks, both overhead and underground, and MV/LV transformers are subject to faults that can be analyzed as follows.

2.1.1 Short circuits

These are phase-to-phase and phase-to-neutral short-circuits whose current intensities are related to the short-circuit power of the fault location under consideration; they must be eliminated quickly to avoid damaging network components through Joule or electrodynamic effects.
