Electricity Grids and Climate Change: Impacts and Adaptations. The Example of Public Networks in Metropolitan France

Since major weather events (the storms of 1999, the heat wave of 2003), several action plans have been implemented to manage weather-related risks and have proven effective. The initial risks (storms, wet snow, flooding, summer heat) have been joined by new challenges such as wildfires and rising sea levels. These initiatives combine investments (in equipment and networks) with operational measures (including FIRE), incorporating technical innovations.
