2. Power control principle for a converter connected to the AC grid

A VSC converter is a controllable voltage source connected in series to an inductor. When connected to an electrical network with a fixed voltage, it is possible to control the active and reactive power by controlling the current through the coupling inductor. A schematic diagram is shown in Figure 2 a, while its associated Fresnel representation is shown in Figure 2 b.
