Two-phase systems of thermal control

Heat pipes and thermosyphons have now entered the mainstream of industry, and are widely used to solve a variety of thermal problems in a simple and elegant way. However, in view of the ever-increasing power requirements and heat flow densities to be managed, these technologies are proving insufficient in some cases, and new concepts for two-phase thermal control systems are being developed. In addition to demonstrating their performance, these systems require in-depth studies to obtain a detailed description of the physical phenomena involved in their operation, such as capillary pumping, thin-film evaporation, microgeometric condensation, etc.
