2.1 Food waste
The French produced 8.8 million tonnes of food waste in 2021 . Nearly half (4.3 million tonnes) comes from food waste. This represents 129 kg of waste per inhabitant. This value is close to the European average (131 kg/capita). In Europe, however, the dispersion around this average value is high if we compare the lowest value held by Slovenia (68 kg/capita) and the highest in Cyprus (395 kg/capita)....
