In the context of green chemistry, the development of reaction media with low environmental impact is essential. Considerable progress has been made over the last fifteen years, but there is still a long way to go, as the solutions proposed (where they exist) are not always economically viable. In particular, the replacement of several ranges of solvents remains problematic. These include high-boiling aromatic cuts such as Solvesso ^TM or Solvarex, for which there is currently no realistic alternative. Indeed, these low-polarity cuts widely used in formulations (paints, coatings...) have no equivalent in nature, and their very low cost imposes the use of a very inexpensive raw material.
