5. Ecological soil resilience
The resilience of a soil corresponds to the speed at which it is able to rehabilitate itself when degraded. From an ecological point of view, this corresponds to the capacity of the communities of organisms that inhabit it to return to a level of abundance, diversity and activity identical to that prior to disturbance. Resilience represents the dynamic part of a community's stability, while resistance represents the static part (see figure
