Domestic wastewater
This is the liquid effluent produced by a household. Domestic wastewater comprises a mixture of black water and grey water.
Black water
Black water is the effluent from water-operated toilets. It consists mainly of flush water, excreta and toilet paper. The term "black water" is sometimes used to describe it.
Grey water
It corresponds to all domestic effluent other than toilet effluent, i.e. mainly wastewater from showers, baths, washbasins, washing machines, sinks, dishwashers and floor washing. This is sometimes referred to as "grey water".
Excreta; excreta
Substances excreted by the human body. Urine and faeces are referred to here (excluding other fluids such as saliva, sweat, etc.)....
