The pollutants that can be emitted into the air are very numerous and cannot be exhaustively described here. In each case, we can draw on the various techniques described so far. The case of dioxins will be dealt with here by way of example only.
The term dioxin refers to a family of hydrocarbons made up of 2 chlorinated aromatic rings (1 to 8 atoms in all) joined by one or two oxygen atoms:
