1. Personal exposure measurement
Commonly used in occupational hygiene, the measurement of individual exposure is now being developed in a broader context, notably in the context of epidemiological studies carried out on the general population. For this type of personalized measurement, the ideal would be to have portable analyzers for all pollutants, continuously sampling the air close to the respiratory tract and delivering a signal in real time. This type of equipment would make it possible to calculate the distribution of levels over the chosen exposure period, and to determine peak values. In reality, however, miniaturization and autonomy constraints severely limit the resources available, and few portable analyzers meet the need with sufficient sensitivity and specificity.
